F O R E W O R D
This compilation has been done by the teachers of Gattaran District (Gattaran and Lasam) using all available resources including the recollections of old people who were so generous to help the teachers in gathering the data. Due to the ravages of the last war, records could hardly be secured for further reference. Hence, old people were mainly consulted.
To all those friends who directly or indirectly helped in furnishing the data in this compendium, the Gattaran District Teachers and the undersigned are greatly indebted.
